Short description

In this weeklong training, you will acquire the skills and knowledge required to implement and support the radiation protection measures prescribed by a radiation protection expert(s), and handle open radioactive sources.

- Basics of radiation physics and radiobiology
- Awareness of radiation hazards and standard protection measures
- Appropriate handling of sealed and open radioactive sources
- Fundamentals and practical applications of radiation measurement techniques
- Applicable laws, regulations and guidelines

Learning Objectives
This course covers the skills and competences required for laboratory personnel working in work areas type B and C as outlined in the Strahlenschutzausbildungsverordnung for the application area I 19 (SR 814.501.261).

Audience

This course is designed for Laboratory personnel in working areas type B/C (I 19) and laboratory personnel in nuclear facilities (K 5) as well as veterinary practice assistants working with open radioactive sources (MP 17).

Please wear suitable lab clothing: long trousers, closed shoes (a lab coat will be provided)

Note for pregnant or breastfeeding women: for radiation protection reasons (StSV Art. 53 Sect. 5b, 6), we recommend that you contact the course instructor to discuss your situation before registering for the course.

The course price of CHF 2’400.- per participant includes the examination fee. If a re-examination is necessary, we will charge a separate CHF 150.- fee.
